MGB-OAGB Congress – an unforgettable event for international physicians
The 6th Annual Consensus Conference of the MGB-OAGB International Club took place here in Cologne for the first time this year.
In the Radisson BLU Cologne next to the Cologne Fair from June 20th to 21st, about 130 renowned experts met for an international exchange for operative measures in the field of body weight reduction.
The President of the Medical Congress this year was Dr. Karl Rheinwalt, Chief Physician for Obesity, Metabolic and Plastic Surgery at the St. Franziskus Hospital in Cologne.
The focus was on bariatric and metabolic surgery. These operations are intended to facilitate the reduction of body weight. MGB (Mini Gastric Bypass) and OAGB (One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass) have long since developed into internationally recognised procedures against severe obesity and the associated diseases.
Exciting innovations in surgical procedures were presented in the form of lectures and poster presentations. Panel discussions and personal dialogue provided an opportunity for professional exchange.
The absolute highlight of the event was the live transmission of three operations directly from the operating theatre of the St. Franziskus Hospital. Here, the doctors who watched the operations were able to experience them in real time and to participate interactively.
This congress was a complete success, the participating doctors were particularly enthusiastic about the integration of the live surgeries and were able to benefit from the techniques presented there.
We from face to face were responsible for the logistical implementation of the event.
Our tasks included the participant management as well as the technical implementation of the live transmission from the hospital.
The 7th Annual Consensus Conference of the MGB-OAGB International Club will take place next year in India.
